TORBAY HOLIDAY PROGRAMME ACTIVITY INFORMATION – SEE BELOW

ACTIVITIES AT PAIGNTON COMMUNITY & SPORTS ACADEMY:   Please be aware that Paignton Community & Sports Academy is a spilt-site school WATERLEAT ROAD (by Paignton Zoo/Morrisons) and BOROUGH ROAD(near KFC and Yalberton Industrial Estate). 

PLEASE ENSURE YOU CHECK ACTIVITY DETAILS AND GO TO THE CORRECT SITE.

Please arrive in plenty of time for sessions and accompany your child to register. All children are to be collected from the Sports Centre and signed out. An active session for parent and child, to develop key skills such as balance, coordination, fitness, core strength and flexibility to name a few. The class is structured and has a warm up and a circuit with different smaller group activities.These rotations will enable toddlers and preschool children the opportunities to learn many valuable skills, from learning to take their turn, developing their social skills, abilities to share; and a chance to explore using a guided discovery with each circuit. The course allows you (the parent) to be active in the hour alongside your child (toddler/preschooler) whilst building a bond, having a positive experience in gymnastics and making new friends for you and your child. Not to mention getting fit! Your child must be able to walk. Please note: Parents must stay with their child and participate in the session.

Info:My baby and me is a fitness class aimed at mums with little ones aged from 6 weeks to 4 years. Come along for a gentle strengthening and toning session to help get your body back in shapes. Little ones can either sit in the middle and play with toys or join in on the fun! We focus on abs, arms, pelvic floor, bums and legs with a short HIIT session at the end to get the heart rate up!

Venue to meet:Meet at Torbay Leisure Centre, Penwill Way, Paignton, TQ4 5JR. NO TRANSPORT PROVIDED.

Info:A chance for you to be outside with your child, amongst new friends, with the aim to learn new ways of using your buggy and get fit! Whilst sharing the journey each week with your child in their buggy, viewing the sights of our beautiful beaches and parks in Goodrington!! Whether you are a complete beginner or advanced, we can tailor the hour for you, you choose the level of your work out. All we ask is for you to be prompt and come ready for fitness and to have fun with your baby/child and buggy!! Please note: For some activities the child may require to stay in the buggy. Parents must stay with their child and participate in the session.

ANIMAL CARE

ANIMAL ENCOUNTER’S MOBILE MINI ZOO (6-17yrs)

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community and Sports Academy,Borough road, Paignton TQ4 7DH - NO transport is provided. 

Info:See, hear and touch real animals. It’s not always possible to visit animals in the wild, so the animal lecture service brings the wild to you! Come along and see a variety of creatures including various big bugs, creepy crawlies, reptiles, owls, chinchillas, mini hedgehogs and other small furry animals. Please wear comfortable clothes as the session takes place indoors. Students will be seeing and holding real animals (This activity is not suitable for children with severe animal allergies.)

ANIMATION WORKSHOP (5-8yrs)

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH – NO transport is provided. 

Info: Come and make a film! Make a character using plasticine, card, wire and fabric and then work in small groups to make animated scenes.  Get hands on with laptops and cameras and make your characters come alive. Your film will posted on the internet for you to download after the workshop. This workshop encourages a parent/family member to attend with their child. This is optional, but promises to be an enjoyable and creative session. Please state on the booking form under ‘Any other Information’ the name of the parent/guardian/adult attending the session (one per child). If no adult will be accompanying your child please also inform us of this. This a messy workshop so wear old clothes and bring a painting shirt if you have one.

Info: Enter the wacky world of stop motion animation. Work in small groups to create characters and scenery and then animate them using laptops and cameras.  Your film will posted on the internet for you to download after the workshop. This a messy workshop so wear old clothes and bring a painting shirt if you have one.

ARCHERY/MINI ARCHERY

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH – NO transport is provided.

Info: Learn the skills of archery. Are you the next Robin Hood or Maid Marian? Have a go at archery and see if you can hit the bullseye!!  Please wear comfortable clothes.  May take place outdoors so please dress according to weather conditions.

Please bring a drink and a small snack. Sweets may be used as a prize – please inform us of any dietary requirements on the booking form.

ARTS & CRAFTS

Info: Have fun being creative. Projects could include: Go green and make mini sailing boats, board games, jewellery and silly sock creatures.  Help with sewing, sawing and using tools will be given. Wear clothing that can get messy(!).

BATTLEFIELD LIVE

Venue to meet: Battlefield Live, Dartmouth Road, Churston Ferrers, Brixham, TQ5 OJT – NO transport provided.

Info: Battlefield Live Torbay is an exciting combat game with lasers. This is paintball without the bruises! Battlefield Live is the most realistic simulation, short of joining the military. You will be briefed on the battlefield, how to use the gaming guns and on your team’s objectives. Please wear old clothes that can get messy(!). We recommend all gamers wear long trousers and trainers, although overall hire will be available. Dress according to weather conditions – if wet please bring waterproofs, if hot wear suncream.

Bring plenty to drink.

Venue to meet: Cayman Golf, Dartmouth Road, Churston Ferrers, Brixham, TQ5 OJT – NO transport provided.

Info: A full day of fun and fresh air. 18 holes of fun golf to start your day, followed by our newest activity..Footgolf. Like it says…Golf played with your foot. Bring your own packed lunch to ensure you have enough energy and wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.Then, after lunch, prepare to do battle for at least 90 minutes. We use laser guns so all the fun of paintball, without the pain.

BEACH DAY

Venue to meet: Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH. Transport is provided from Borough Road to Oddicombe Beach/Churston Cove and Elberry Cove

Info: There is nothing better than a day on the beach so why not join us for a bit of fun and learning all in one. Activities may include: Beach Volleyball, Rounders, Water balloon games, Sand art, Beach sculptures, Sea shell collecting and identification, Kites, Rock pool searches, Shoreline detectives, Beach litter, Seaweed, Shell survey’s, Scavenger hunts, Shelter building, Fire lighting, Den building, and cooking while learning about the beautiful coastal environment that you are in. We also cover beach safety, learning about the tides and the creatures that live in our salty classroom. BBQ included.

**If you have any special dietary requirements please complete the medical/allergies box on the booking form.**

WEAR: Old clothes, wellies/shoes that may get wet and dress according to the weather (suncream/hat or waterproofs).

BRING: PLENTY TO DRINK AND A SNACK. Lunch and other equipment are provided.

BEGINNER STREET DANCE

Info: Beginners Street Dance may include a combination of Street, Robotics, Hip Hop and Body Popping. Wear comfortable clothing – No jeans or skirts please.

BEGINNER TAE KWON-DO

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH – NO  transport is provided.

Info: Session will be delivered by Andy Saunders from Tae Kwon-Do Torbay and will cover basic Tae Kwon-Do technique and skills. Tae Kwon-Do is derived from several Martial Arts and uses the hands and feet to overcome an attacker swiftly and efficiently. Wear sensible sports clothing (no jeans or skirts please) and bring a drink.  All other equipment provided. Participant will be required to be bare foot for the session.

BUSHCRAFT DAY AT PRIMLEY WOODS

Venue to meet: Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Waterleat Road Car ParkWaterleat Road, Paignton, TQ3 3WA – NO transport is provided.  Participants will be walked to Primley Woods by staff.

Info: Spend the day with a Bushcraft Instructor who will lead you through a series of challenges as you learn a range of outdoor survival skills, including advanced fire-lighting techniques and campcraft.  You will be expected to work as part of a team and complete tasks which will benefit the group as a whole, including preparing an outdoor meal. All activities take place outdoors so students MUST wear warm, old clothes (as the camp fire will be smokey and the area can be very muddy – NO shorts please), a waterproof coat, wellington boots or shoes suitable for rough and/or wet terrain and a hat.  If hot please wear and bring sun cream. Bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink.   All other equipment will be provided.

CANOE & BUSHCRAFT DAY

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH.

Info: The ‘Canoe Adventure’ is a magical way to explore one of South Devon’s beautiful river environments, the estuary is home to a wide range of wildlife and bird life including seals, dippers, egrets, herons and if you are really lucky otters! Paddle and explore the river in traditional open canoes, stop at secluded riverside beaches, practice your bushcraft skills to light fires. Learn the art of journeying by open canoe and explore one of South Devon’s beautiful rivers. BBQ, equipment and instruction all provided. Transport provided from Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH to Sharpham, Totnes.  All activities are outside.  Please wear old clothes; you may get wet and muddy! If wet please bring waterproofs, if hot wear suncream/hat. Please bring swimwear, a small towel, a change of clothes, a packed lunch and plenty to drink.

CAYMAN GOLF CUBZ

Venue to meet: Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH – NO transport is provided.

The session will consist of skill based fun warm up games to introduce certain golf related words and useful skills such as balance, speed and co ordination.

We will then move on to coaching by introducing putting, chipping and full swing, in a fun game based way.

WEAR: Comfortable sports clothing, such as shorts, t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirt (no jeans or skirts) and non-black/marking trainers.

BRING:

– Takes place INDOORS (please ensure your child has non marking trainers.)

CAYMAN GOLF DAY

CLAYZER – Laser Clay Shooting (11-17yrs)

Venue to meet: Paignton Community and Sports Academy, Borough road, Paignton TQ47DH – NO  transport is provided.

Info: Clayzer laser clay pigeon shooting is an exciting new sport that is both competitive and fun. Using real shotguns that have been deactivated and modified to shoot an infra red beam at flying clays, competitors register hits on an electronic scoreboard in complete safety when they hit the clay. Starting with static clays we move on to flying clays and then you will progress on to rapid fire shooting, will you be the best? Please wear  comfortable clothes as the session takes place outdoors. Please bring a drink and snack.

CLIMBING PROJECT BEGINNERS

Venue to meet: Paignton Community and Sports Academy, Borough road, Paignton TQ47DH – NO transport is provided.

Info: The “Climbing Project” is a 7.5 metre climbing wall that brings the climbing experience to you! A beginner’s session assuming little or no climbing experience. An introduction to climbing, the rules, the hazards and the use of equipment. All participants will get to climb, belay, lower and learn about rope management in teams under instructor’s supervision. An educational action packed session with all safety equipment and instruction provided. Participants may benefit from more than one session before attending an advanced session. Please wear Trousers, a long sleeved top and close fitting trainers for climbing (NO SHORTS /JEANS / SKIRTS/ SANDALS). Bring plenty to drink and a snack. Activity is weather dependant.

 CLIMBING PROJECT ADVANCED

Venue to meet: Paignton Community and Sports Academy, Borough road, Paignton TQ47DH – NO  transport is provided.

Info: The “Climbing Project” is a 7.5 metre climbing wall that brings the climbing experience to you! The advanced session follows from the beginners session which you must have attended earlier in the week. This combines the basics from the beginners session to include knot tying, pre climb checks, individual belaying and lowering, communication and team work grades, route selection and climbing technique. Includes all safety equipment and instruction provided. Please wear Trousers, a long sleeved top and close fitting trainers for climbing (NO SHORTS /JEANS / SKIRTS/ SANDALS). Bring plenty to drink and a snack. Activity is weather dependant.

CLIP ‘N’ CLIMB

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH.

Info: Minibus travel to Exeter Quayside.  Challenge yourself at Europe’s first Clip ‘n Climb centre at Exeter Quayside. A stunning series of climbing based activities that provide healthy, challenging fun for everyone. Test your resolve and determination, Walk your way up the amazing stairway to heaven and reach new heights on the Skyscraper, take the Speed Climbing challenge or light up the board on the Checker plate. These are just a few of the climbs we offer.  Clip ‘n climb can also provide mental and emotional challenges focusing on developing self-confidence, self-esteem, provide problem solving tasks and will encourage peer support, communication and teamwork. Please wear trousers, a long sleeved top and shoes suitable for climbing (NO SHORTS /JEANS / SKIRTS/ SANDALS). Bring plenty to drink and a snack.  All other equipment is provided.

COASTEERING @ ANSTEY’S COVE

Venue to meet: ANSTEY’S COVE CAR PARK, TORQUAY, TQ1 2QP – NO TRANSPORT PROVIDED.

Info: Coasteering is an exciting and adventurous combination of climbing, traversing,swimming, scrambling and jumping from rocks along our coastline; it is an excellent way to provide education around coastal awareness and safety as well as a focus on marine environments. It also provides a challenging and rewarding experience!

COASTEERING & KAYAKING

Venue to meet: Meadfoot Beach (by the cafe), Meadfoot Sea Road, Torquay, TQ1 2LQ – NO transport is provided.

Info: An exciting and adrenalin filled activity. Coasteering involves swimming, traversing, scrambling and jumping from rocks along our coastline; it is an excellent way to provide education around coastal awareness and safety as well as a focus on marine environments, it also provides a challenging and rewarding experience. Wear old clothes (NO SHORTS), please bring swimwear to go under a wetsuit, a towel, dry clothing, a warm jumper, shoes to get wet, dry shoes, a change of clothes, sun cream, a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Please bring wetsuit (full length) if you would prefer to wear your own (these can be provided if not).  All activities are outside – dress according to the weather. All students are required to wear safety equipment. All safety equipment is provided.

COASTEERING AND CLIMBING

CRABBING, BBQ & BUSHCRAFT

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH.

Info: Minibus travel to Stoke Gabriel. Participants will make their own crab line to catch crabs then walk over the dam to the woods for bushcraft. The session should include learning about building a fire and fire lighting, and then cooking food on the fire for the BBQ lunch! Please notify when booking any dietary requirements. Please wear old clothes, wellies/shoes that may get wet and dress according to the weather (suncream/hat or waterproofs), as all activities are outside.  All food is provided but please bring a drink.

CREATE AND MAKE FUN FELTS

Info: Have fun designing and making your own feltie character to make into a badge or keyring. All materials provided. Wear Comfortable clothes as the session takes place indoors. Bring a drink and a snack.

CSI WHODUNIT FORENSIC CHALLENGE

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH – NO transport is provided.

Info: There has been a burglary at the school and a staff member has been attacked!  This is an energetic and exciting workshop presented by a real forensic scientist in which participants visit the (set up) crime scene wearing full kit and find the evidence left behind. Then there is lots of scientific practical including fingerprints, blood patterns, footwear marks, jigsaw-fit evidence, DNA profiles, handwriting comparison and digital forensics. (Please note that fake blood and body/ manikin will be used – this activity may not be suitable for some younger participants who would not understand that the crime scene is not real or those who are squeamish/have an aversion to blood).Participants are challenged to work in teams to find out which of the police suspects did the crime and find out also exactly who did what. Finally there is an exciting and unpredictable courtroom trial when the evidence is presented to see if it is good enough for the jury to find the suspects guilty. This is a great workshop for anyone interested in science, detective work and role-play drama! Wear comfortable clothing.

DANCE – (BEGINNERS) STREET DANCE/FREESTYLE

DESIGN & MAKE YOUR OWN SKIRTS OR SHORTS

Venue to meet: Sports Centre at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH – NO transport is provided.

Info: Design and make your own skater skirt/shorts that’s fits you and your personal style. You will learn how to make your own pattern, choose from a variety of fun funky fabrics, sew your own skirt/shorts and add your own personal tweaks with pockets, ruffles and motifs. You will get to take your own skirt/shorts home and a pattern pack with step by step instructions so you can make it again and again for you and your friends All materials provided.

EXETER CHIEFS 1 OR 2 DAY RUGBY CAMP

Info: Enjoy a day of rugby with Exeter Chief’s professional coaches.  This will involve all ranges of skills with and without the ball, as well as contact skills, which will include all set piece and tackling drills.  All skills taught are then put into games for all age groups over the day as well. Boys and girls both welcome.  **Participants must bring their own protective headwear and gumshields.**  Free t-shirt and goodie bag for every child – please state t-size on booking form, 9-11yrs, 12-13yrs, small, medium or large.  Takes place outside at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Borough Road, Paignton, TQ4 7DH – NO Transport is provided. FILM AND MEDIA WORKSHOP

FISHING/ADVANCED FISHING

Venue to meet: Town Parks Coarse Fishing Centre, Totnes Road, Paignton, TQ4 7PY – NO transport is provided.

Info: All equipment and maggots(!) provided for a fishing session with guidance from staff at Town Parks. The top lake features a great many fish, including roach, perch, tench, skimmer beam, bronze beam, rudd and carp. All fishing takes place outside so please dress according to weather conditions. Bait and tackle is provided.

At the advanced session we will encourage participants to bring their own equipment or we can provide rods and reels to practice casting and fishing “on the bottom” as opposed to float fishing with whips.

GORGE WALKING, ROCK CLIMBING & ABSEILING

Info: An activity that will find you scrambling, traversing, climbing waterfalls and plunging into pools to ascend or descend a flowing river. An exhilarating team activity that builds upon trust and challenge within a group. Rock Climbing and Abseiling: We are spoilt for choice with the beautiful South Devon sea cliffs and the contrasting granite tors on Dartmoor. An exciting and adventurous activity, learn to belay, develop your skills on the rock, challenge yourself and enjoy the wonderful high when you reach the top! PARTICIPANTS MUST BE CONFIDENT IN THE WATER. Minibus travel to Dartmoor.  All activities are outside.  Please bring Swimwear – a large towel – a warm jumper – a pair of shorts to wear over a wetsuit – shoes that can get wet, secure footwear ideally trainers with laces. Info: Gymnastics and Trampolining instruction led by qualified British gymnastics coaches. Each session starts with a thorough warm-up and stretch, followed by learning skills on the different gymnastics apparatus and trampolines. You will also be learning floor skills, such as cartwheels and handstands, then trampoline skills including seat, front and back landings – no jeans or skirts, no jewellery including earrings.  Socks are required for trampolining.

HORSE RIDING: ‘NEW’ Coker-Brown School of Riding Ltd, Ambrook Stables, Torbryan, Newton Abbot, TQ12 5UW

Info: Students will participate in a lesson for approximately 1 hour and take part in stable and yard management with horse care. Minibus travel to Coker-Brown school of riding ltd, Ambrook stables, Torbryan, Newton Abbot, TQ12 5UW.  Please note there is a weight limit of 10.5 stone for participants.  Takes place at  Coker-Brown school of riding ltd, Pease Park, Staverton. Please wear old clothes and shoes with a heel for riding – not trainers! Footwear can be provided at the stables.  All activities are outside so dress according to the weather.

Info: As an introduction to kayaking you will learn about your equipment and various skills and manouevres, such as moving the boat backwards and forwards, stopping the boat whilst moving forwards, steering, turning the boat and moving the boat sideways. Info: Join tutors at Combe Pafford Business & Enterprise School, complete with 3 ramps and all the equipment you need to be a mechanic. They’ll guide you through basic car maintenance such as the workings of an engine, changing tyres and replacing brake pads/discs. Can you take an engine apart and put it together again…without any bits left?  Minibus travel to Combe Pafford Business & Enterprise School. MOUNTAIN BIKING DAY AT HALDON FOREST / DARTMOOR

HALDON – Visit Haldon Forest and enjoy a day’s mountain biking. Covering approx 11 – 12 miles during the day, over a wide range of natural & man made trails, including the blue Challenge trail & parts of the red Ridgeride trail. A balance of uphill & downhill, all done at the slowest rider’s pace. There is also a skills area, where you can learn to corner well, with small section of jumps and wooden platforms to practice on. Please wear comfortable clothing, covering arms and legs, that can get muddy (NO jeans/skirts) and that are suitable for weather conditions on the day. Bring waterproofs if wet and wear warm layers if cold.  A change of clothes is advisable if it is wet or (hopefully) very warm!  Trainers are fine, but if it is very wet, please also bring wellies.  Bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Minibus travel to Haldon.  MUST BE COMPETENT RIDING A BIKE and have a good level of physical fitness.  All bikes and safety equipment are provided.  All activities are outside so please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for weather conditions.

Staffed by Play and Forest School leaders activities can include toasting marshmallows round a campfire, Easter Egg hunts, making hedgehog grasshead, tree cookie decorations and egg painting.

POLICE EXPERIENCE

QUAY CLIMBING AND CLIP ‘N’ CLIMB DAY

Info: Minibus travel to Exeter Quayside.  Challenge yourself at Europe’s first Clip ‘n Climb centre at Exeter Quayside. A stunning series of climbing based activities that provide healthy, challenging fun for everyone. Test your resolve and determination, Walk your way up the amazing stairway to heaven and reach new heights on the Skyscraper, take the Speed Climbing challenge or light up the board on the Checker plate. These are just a few of the climbs we offer.  Clip ‘n climb can also provide mental and emotional challenges focusing on developing self-confidence, self-esteem, provide problem solving tasks and will encourage peer support, communication and teamwork. Please wear trousers, a long sleeved top and shoes suitable for climbing (NO SHORTS /JEANS / SKIRTS/ SANDALS). Bring plenty to drink and a snack.  All other equipment is provided.

Info: Minibus travel to Raceworld Exeter .”The Grand Prix comes with exclusive use of the track Which includes:5 minute practice,10 minute qualifying session,10 lap Sprint Race for all drivers, top 3 drivers receive medals and an electronically timed printed race report. Balaclavas must be worn by all drivers and are included within the cost. Driver’s must be a minimum of 12 years of age and over 1.55m (5ft 1 inch) tall to participate in race events. Karting is not suitable for anyone with heart or breathing difficulties, back or neck problems and students with a nervous disposition. All driver’s must attend the safety briefing upon arrival. Minibus travel included. A RACEWORLD CONSENT FORM WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETED BY A PARENT/ GUARDIAN FOR THIS ACTIVITY.

WEAR: Comfortable clothing, No skirts/Flip flops/High Heels/Sandals/Open toed shoes/Platform shoes or low slung pumps. Participants must wear flat soled shoes that cover whole foot.

Get ready to protect your egg, launch a missile or attack the pirates and seize the ship, all this of course, whilst trying to avoid the evil side lines!” Our youngest classes require full parent participation and offer a fantastic opportunity to spend quality time with your child whilst they learn new skills, meet new friends and have an exciting introduction to Rugby. We will rotate the children around three activities with adequate time to recover and participate in stationary games. Its fun and your child will learn about shapes, colours, numbers and counting, they will be encouraged to work independently as well as enjoying team games. Rugby specific skills are gently introduced and all the equipment used in these classes has been specifically designed and selected for toddlers. We use sponge foam balls so the children can catch, pass and kick their goals with confidence. Its colourful, it’s lively and it’s guaranteed to brighten up your day.

Finding space, looking after the ball, scoring try’s, running with the ball in two hands and general agility and balance are just some of the things your child will learn during their time with us. In this class we use colourful size 2 rugby balls that are specially designed for small hands and feet.

Venue to meet: Takes place at Paignton Community & Sports Academy, Waterleat Road Sports Hub/AstroWaterleat Road, Paignton, TQ3 3WA -NO transport is provided.  From the car park, go down the steps, past the Sports Hub, continue along the path and down the slope to the Sports Hall. Please register by the Astro. You will be met by a member of staff to sign in.

Info: Full day soccer skills coaching by qualified Saints Soccer School coaches featuring: Warm-ups and reaction games, technique training sessions: passing, dribbling, shooting, attacking, defending, fun games to practice techniques and small-sided matches and tournaments. Please wear comfortable sports clothing (no jeans or skirts) and non-black/marking trainers.

Info: The Mini Soccer Saints programme is designed to give ALL 4-6 year olds the best possible start into football and sport. During the session we aim to enhance your child’s skills and FUNdamentals such as Agility, Balance and Coordination otherwise known as the ABC’s. Each session will also focus on basic ball skills, fun games, introduction to rules, discipline and fitness. These session also give your child the opportunity to showcase their talents with the potential of earning a place in one of our invitation only Development Centres. Natural progression from these sessions will be to the nearest Saints Soccer Centre (7-11).

Info: Saints Soccer Tots sessions are aimed at ALL children aged 2-4 year olds. These sessions are designed to provide an enjoyable start into sport and football where they can develop their skills. The main focus of these sessions are to ensure all children have a fun and positive experience as well as developing their fundamental skills. Sessions will also give children a head start in key areas such as social interaction, listening skills, discipline, routine and teamwork. Progression from these sessions will lead into our Mini Soccer Saints programme (4-6).

SCULPTURE WORKSHOP (5-8yrs)

Info:  Make amazing models of ‘Summer Games’ dancers, swimmers, footballers and runners and then have a go at making your own ‘Summer Games’ themed picture in a frame. Use lots of exciting materials, fabrics and techniques. This workshop encourages a parent/family member to attend with their child. This is optional, but promises to be an enjoyable and creative session. Please state on the booking form under ‘Any other Information’, the name of the parent/guardian/adult attending the session (one per child). If no adult will be accompanying your child please also inform us of this. This a messy workshop so wear old clothes and bring a painting shirt if you have one. Please bring plenty to drink and a snack.

SKATEBOARD LESSON

Info: Join Team Rubicon – the biggest action sports school in the UK – for one of our beginners skateboarding workshops. Our sessions will provide a friendly environment to learn all the basics of how the ride a skateboard including how to push, turn and stop correctly, as well as some more advanced tricks for the adventurous. All skateboards and safety equipment provided.

Info: Minibus travel to Plymouth. Spend the day at Plymouth Ski & Snowboard centre. Learn how to ski and snowboard from qualified instructors and ride the toboggan! All equipment provided. Transport Provided

SURFING @ BIGBURY

Info: Learn to surf in safety and develop your surfing skills with professional coaching by Discovery Surf School. Minibus transport to Bigbury Beach.  Bring swim wear, a towel, sun cream, a packed lunch and plenty to drink. Please note that the maximum time spent in the water is 2 hours and this is dependent on the weather and conditions on the day. All equipment is provided. The children’s safety is of paramount importance and the instructor’s decision will be adhered to. Participant must be able to swim 50 metres and be confident in the water.

SWEET TREATS & CRAFTS

Info: Join in a fun session making crafts and creating treats to eat. Activities will vary.   All materials will be provided. TAE KWON-DO

Info: Session will be delivered by Andy Saunders from Tae Kwon-Do Torbay and will cover basic Tae Kwon-Do technique and skills. Tae Kwon-Do is derived from several Martial Arts and uses the hands and feet to overcome an attacker swiftly and efficiently. Wear sensible sports clothing (no jeans or skirts please) and bring a drink. All other equipment provided. Participant will be required to be bare foot for the session.

TENNIS CAMP AT WATERLEAT ROAD SPORTS HUB – TWO DAY COURSE

Info: A two day tennis coaching camp, covering skills and game play for all abilities.  Please wear sports clothing (no jeans or skirts) and trainers. Bring a packed lunch and plenty to drink. TRAMPOLINING AND WALL CLIMBING

Venue to meet: Torbay Olympic Gymnastics Club, Units 2 & 3 Parkfield Estate, Barton Hill Way, Barton, Torquay, TQ2 8JG – NO transport is provided.

Info: Trampolining and wall climbing instruction led by qualified British gymnastics coaches. Each session starts with a thorough warm-up and stretch followed by learning skills on the trampoline including seat, front and back landings and fun activities on the 11m long traversing wall –  Please wear comfortable clothes – no jeans or skirts, no jewellery including earrings. Socks are required for trampolining.

WET N WILD DAY AT GRENVILLE HOUSE

Info:Activities are weather dependent and can include Abseiling at Berry head, Canoeing, Coasteering, Kayaking/Sit on tops, Raft building and Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP).  (unless stated on timetable). Please bring swimwear, a towel, a change of clothes, shoes to get wet (Secure footwear ideally trainers with laces. NO SANDALS/BEACH SHOES OR CROCS), dry shoes, a packed lunch and plenty to drink.  Please dress according to weather conditions (waterproofs or hat/suncream).  All other equipment is provided.  Some activities may take place at Berry Head Country Park – children will walk from Grenville House with Grenville House staff to Berry Head Country Park.   

WOODCRAFT

Info: Come build and decorate your very own wooden jewellery holders, boxes or photo frames and key rings that you can take home with you. You will learn basic building skills and be taught to use tools safely, (saw, hammer, nail, tape measure). It’s a perfect activity for all you future budding DIY’ERS out there!
